Introduction
There has, for a while now, been a bit of a firestorm of public controversy over the planned startup on September 10, 2008 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) facility in Switzerland (I know, I know, I myself had no idea where the heck Switzerland was located until I looked at a map on the Interweb and discovered that it is located in a little valley in the Appalachian mountains in West Virginia...). And so, because of this fact and also because several folks have contacted me privately and asked me to render an opinion -- from my unique viewpoint as someone who is both a scientist and a mystic and intuitive -- on whether the Earth is in any danger from the operation of the LHC, that is, in any serious danger from the high-energy physical reactions of subatomic particles that will be taking place deep in the collider, I am writing this brief article to address this issue -- albeit very briefly -- from my point of view, and I will be speaking herein primarily as a mystic and an intuitive, rather than as a scientist or engineer.
Prior to posting this article on one of my websites, I initially sent this article as a post to my Time Space Doorway list group, largely because black holes can indeed qualify as time-space portals (and it is alleged that the operation of the LHC will produce a great many black holes) and to my Exotic-energies list group (both list groups are at Yahoo Groups), because it is certainly true that the operation of the LHC will release all kinds of exotic energies!
Brief Background About the LHC and Attendant Fears About LHC Operation
As many of you know, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Switzerland is scheduled, after many years in design and construction, and at a total cost of about 7 billion Euros, to finally go live on Wednesday, September 10, 2008; the collider will draw over 34 MW (megawatts) at peak power. And, as you may likely also know, the LHC project has generated a firestorm of opposition from a number of scientists, engineers, environmental groups and civic groups, all of whom feel that the operation of the LHC might easily lead to the rapid destruction not only of our planet but of the entire universe, via any of about seven different theoretical scenarios, some of which involve the creation by the LHC of numerous black holes (which would then eat the planet and the solar system), others of which involve the instantaneous collapse of the entire universe, and some of which involve various mechanisms such as production of strangelets, time-space vacuum bubbles, or magnetic monopoles, which, it is claimed would also consume the world in short order, and finally, one lone remaining outlier theory which claims that the operation of the collider would NOT result in instant or near-instant destruction of the earth or of the universe, but rather, that some subatomic events triggered by the operation of the collider will cause a drastic increase in radiation levels on earth, and will thus poison all life in short order, perhaps over a few weeks or months.
And a Very Brief Note About Myself
As some of you may already know, I am one of those odd birds who is a trained and degreed scientist, with a Master's degree in the sciences (and I also have a strong educational background as an electrical and electronics engineer and in astrophysics as well), and I actively work as a consulting and R&D scientist in several niche fields in the sciences, and yet I am also a mystic, an intuitive and a spiritual healer. And, there is not a New Age bone in my body; I am rather famous (perhaps the better word is infamous) in certain circles for being very down-to-earth, pragmatic and grounded when it comes to mystical and metaphysical matters, a fact which continually manages to infuriate some of the many loonies and airheads who inhabit the fields of mysticism and metaphysics (in fact, there are some bloggers who have insisted on the Interweb that I am a fraud, a "wolf in sheep's clothing" who is secretly working for the CIA and the Bavarian Illuminati as a disinformation agent!) Okay, About Purported Dangers of the Operation of the LHC
Much as I have mentioned briefly above, I have been contacted recently by several persons who have asked me for my opinion, particularly from the deep intuitive level at which I sometimes work as a mystic and a spiritual healer, about the actual dangers, if any, of the destruction of the earth, or even the entire universe, which might result from the operation of the LHC. And so, I recently went into deep meditation (distracted, as usual, by beatific visions of The Fifth Element (aka Milla Jovovich) and Lara Croft) and once I got to a very still and quiet place where I felt very much in touch with what I call Holy Spirit and Sacred Heart (aka Supreme Heart), I proceeded to ask several questions, as normally I tend to get extremely accurate information at this level, and, in fact, it is at this level where I get all the information from Divinity that has allowed me to create each of my strange inventions and prototypes of my strange technologies. Here then, are the questions which I asked and the answers which I received, in a rather brief form:
Question: Is there any possibility that the operation of the LHC may or will result in creating or causing some kind of event or events that could or would cause significant harm or destruction to earth or to the universe, or to life on earth?
Answer: No, despite all the theoretical possibilities for destruction offered over the past ten or twenty years by scientists and engineers (and also by loonies), and the minor carbon footprint issues of the power draw of many megawatts by the LHC entirely aside, for they are very minor, the operation of the LHC in any conceivable or imaginable configurations (and there are many possible configurations) will not ever pose any danger of creating or helping to create any kinds of runaway reactions, events or other phenomena that could conceivably lead to any kind of significant destruction of, or harm to, the earth, nor to its inhabitants, nor to the universe, nor to any corners of the universe. So, from the viewpoint of potential harm to or destruction of life on this planet, or the planet itself, or the solar system, or the universe, in this realm, the LHC, when operational, is entirely benign and harmless. And indeed, there is no imaginable operating configuration for that equipment, now or in the future, that could result in any such harm or danger.
However, when considering such possibilities, it is important to always keep in mind one thing, as follows:
It is true that many people, and even some highly-credentialed scientists, seem to have been expressing unbridled fear and rage about the startup of the LHC, or at least about the perceived dangers thereof. The reality is that, whether you are considering the LHC or some other collider, or the sometimes extremes we see with the weather, or the possibility of major volcanic eruptions or super-volcanoes or major earthquakes, or other major natural disasters, or other man-made disasters, it can be useful to bear in mind that not a single thing in the physical world happens without the express design and consent of Divinity, aka Being, that is to say, even so-called accidents or disasters were simply, at that time, a perfect expression of the perfection of Divinity in Creation, and you can always rest assured that at all times, in all worlds, each and every being is having a perfect experience, that is, the experience most perfect for them at this time, and that all is perfect. This can be very easy to understand from a level of Beingness or Holy Spirit, but, of course, it can be much harder for the human mind, particularly the linear aspect which is so dominated by the so-called ego, to understand the simplicity and perfection of such things, for it gets caught up in multiple emotional reactions and attachments and aversions, and gets caught up in multiple judgments thereof, and it also loves to whine and complain that whatever happened was not what it wanted!
I then asked a few other related questions just to make sure that I have not gotten an incorrect reply as a result of having asked a poorly-phrased question, but all the answers were the same.
And then, since a few New Age-type seers, channelers and doomsayers have also been predicting that the operation of the LHC will unleash "psychic" forces or energies that will be harmful to humans on a psychic level or etheric level or spiritual level, or on some other non-physical level -- I received one piece of junk email awhile back from a would-be "psychic channeler" who claimed that the operation of the LHC will release a "....black cloud of negative energy, a negative electron cloud, that will cause great damage to the energy body and shorten our lifetime drastically (sic) unless we act now", and other channeled material has predicted similar disaster -- I also asked the following question:
Question: Is there any possibility that the operation of the LHC may or will result in creating or causing some kind of effect or field or cloud of energy or something that will have significant and adverse effects upon the consciousness of humans or upon their health by affecting them on some kind of energetic or etheric level, or that will affect their mood?
The answer was a very brief "no".
I then proceeded to ask another question, somewhat related, which occurred to me as a result of asking about the LHC, and this offshoot issue kinda intrigued me, and so I asked:
Question: Is there any possibility that some other scientific, academic, commercial, industrial or government project may or will result in creating or causing some kind of event or events that could or would cause significant and major harm or destruction to earth or to the universe, or to life on earth, perhaps via scenarios similar to those envisioned as doomsday scenarios for the LHC?
Answer: At this time, most such projects, including all the various linear accelerators, collider projects and particle beam experiments, and even all of the hot fusion, warm fusion and cold fusion projects underway, are quite benign and safe from that point of view. Indeed, at this time on earth, the only project which even offers a remote potential of causing or at least triggering significant and major harm or destruction due to such science-fiction-type scenarios is an academic and scientific effort underway at a university or a university-affiliated facility in the eastern half of the USA, and it is in one of the states south of the latitude at which Washington, DC is located, in other words, south of an east-west line drawn through Washington DC.
It seems to be a research project in the realms of subatomic quantum physics, and the project, which has cost at least 3 million dollars so far, involves multiple high powered gas lasers, and all or most of them seem to be aimed at a target of some kind, and the laser light emission from most or all of the lasers seems to be in the region of visible red. It seems that there is about a one-in-a-million chance that this project, if it continues to remain operational for about the next ten years, could trigger a major catastrophic event at the subatomic level that could destroy the entire earth, and within a time frame far shorter than one second (BTW, if you have not yet already guessed, this statement makes no sense at all to my scientific/rational mind, because the power levels employed in high powered lasers are almost a million times lower than found in the LHC, and the power density, that is, the concentration of power per square centimeter of area, even lower, and thus it is hard to imagine any destructive scenario which could be triggered at the subatomic level in such a device.) The destruction, if it were to happen, would not be destruction in the sense of fire or an explosion, but rather, it could perhaps be best visualized as an instantaneous disappearance of all matter of the earth and of its atmospheric envelope, and for some objects in orbit around and near the earth. And no, the destruction, which is better perhaps called a disappearance, if it were to come to pass, would not be at all painful for any life forms involved. There would also be no fear, no thought, no recrimination, no worry on the part of any beings "destroyed" in the event. Rather, all matter on earth, and the earth itself, and some nearby matter, would simply disappear instantly from existence in the physical world, no pain involved. The odds are very small, and for the disaster to occur, a number of rather improbable events and circumstances would need to be in place, all at one time.
In Closing
That's about it, folks! I hope that this information may be at least a bit of help to at least a few of the people who have asked me for my opinion about the possible dangers of the operation of the LHC! In writing this article, I have carefully kept my linear scientific mind in check, particularly when it came to sharing the odd revelation which claimed that there is a physics research project involving high-powered gas lasers underway at a US academic institution which conceivably could post a tiny but statistically measurable threat of wreaking major havoc on the earth. This part made no sense at all to my rational mind, and frankly, I am quite okay with that!
Oh, and a Brief Postscript: a Word About the Mayan Calendar and its Putative Predictions of Doomsday in December 2012
This is a brief postscript added on September 15, 2008. Well, I guess I should have anticipated this, but, in the wake of the release of the earlier versions of this article, a number of persons have approached me and asked me if I can and will do a similar Q and A session while in deep meditation regarding the claims by many New Agers and all kinds of other folks that the world will somehow come to an end sometime between December 12 and December 24, 2012, due to the fact that this is supposedly predicted by the "Mayan Calendar." After several days of pondering this matter (while distracted, as usual, by beatific visions of The Fifth Element [aka Milla Jovovich] and Xenia Seeberg [the adorable German actress who played Xev Bellringer in the strange TV series Lexx]), I have received inner guidance to the effect that it would be okay for me to do this at some point over the next few months, as time and inclination permit, and, if there is anything at all to share, I will post a brief article about the 2012 matter somewhere on this website.
